As the seed catalogs start to arrive, we begin to plan our crops for the following season. We prefer to grow heirloom and unusual vegetable varieties whenever possible.
In 2010 we will offer started assortments of heirloom vegetables.
Old hybrid favorites are also grown for their ability to resist disease and other pests so we do not need to use environmentally harmful chemicals. Customer suggestions are always welcomed. Varieties planted change from year to year and we do have our favorites. We try to grow most of the following each year:

Beets with tops
Broccoli
Cabbage
Cauliflower
Beans - filet and shelling
Collard Greens
Cucumbers -slicing and pickling
Squash - Yellow, Zucchini
Tomatos - salad, slicing, sauce and of course, green by request
Onions - sweet and bunching
Garlic and Shallots
Sweet Peas
Spinach
Melons
Lettuce - looseleaf, heading
Leek
Potatoes - red, gold, blue, fingerling
Horseradish
Herbs and Edible Flowers
Cut flowers

We also hope to start shitake, morel and lion's mane mushrooms soon. A purple variety of asparagus was added in Spring 2009 with an anticipated harvest in early 2012. e our first year planting potatoes - red, gold, blue and fingerling.
Our Orchard is still young with only four trees currently producing limited quantities of Rome and Winesap apples, white peaches and pears. In the Spring of 2009 our orchard was expanded by several varieties of peach, plum, pear, apple, blueberries, raspberries, cranberries, loganberries, fig, and red white currants.
Asian vegetables were the 2009 experimental crop including Perilla, Bamboo Shoots, Water Chestnuts, Pak Choi, Snowpeas, Mizuna, Lemon Grass. We are looking forward to producing more of these great veggies.
